Are All CrossFit Gyms The Same?
One of the best aspects about Power Keg is the community. Camaraderie forms when people not only work out together but support each other. The communal aspect of CrossFit is a key component of why it’s so effective. Each affiliate has a community vibe that is unique, and you should certainly find an affiliate that is a good fit for you.
The Power Keg community is awesome. We have fun both inside and outside the gym. We support each other on a daily basis, we are workout buddies, we are competitors, above all we are friends.

What exactly is CrossFit?
Daily workouts could include things such as core conditioning, rowing, sprinting, gymnastics, lifting, etc. And all our workouts are designed to improve overall flexibility, strength, speed, endurance, and agility.
Why is your gym more expensive than other gyms?
We’d actually encourage you to ask a different question. What are your goals? Personalized attention? Trained, professional coaches? Accountability? Working out with a group of like-minded people who cheer on your success? If the answer to any of the above is “yes”, then we’d encourage you to check us out.
How often do you recommend I come to the gym?
Most people will need to taper. For example:
If you’re just starting up, we recommend coming three days/week for your first couple weeks, then build to four, then five. Once you’re up to five days per week, we recommend building in two recovery days per week.
Again, we will guide you along the best path for success.
I’m not in very good shape… can I do CrossFit?
One of the things that makes Power Keg unique is our community of people from literally every walk of life: stay-at-home parents, elite athletes, students, CEOs, members of the armed services, firefighters, you name it. Our bodies come in every imaginable size, shape and age; and yet, our workouts every day are designed for anyone to do them. Yes, anyone.
We’ve had tons of people come to Power Keg that have never worked out in their lives before, and they get along well. More importantly, they overcome their fears and are now in great shape. The best way to determine whether this is for you is to come and give it a try!
If I’m A Woman, Will CrossFit Make Me Bulky?
It is incredibly difficult for a woman to bulk – just ask the biggest, ripped guy you know how hard he’s had to work for his muscles. If you wanted to look like a hulking bodybuilder, you would have to eat, sleep and train like a bodybuilder. If you want to have lean muscle and lose body fat, CrossFit coupled with a good nutrition program will help.
Is CrossFit Dangerous?
CrossFit is not dangerous…poor movement, incorrect form, unchecked ego, and bad coaching is dangerous.
That being said, any physical activity and fitness program has its inherent risks and those interested in joining and participating in any of Power Keg’s CrossFit classes are recommended to first clear their participation in any exercise program with their physician.
Additionally, ALL new members to PKA must first consult with a PKA coach prior to joining as this helps determine the athlete’s readiness to physical activity no matter their apparent level of fitness.
What if I Have a Pre-Existing Injury?
Our fitness methodology has very successfully been used by many to make a comeback from serious illness, knee, shoulder, or back surgery, artificial hip replacement — even people with prosthetic limbs or with almost no limbs at all (seriously, YouTube “CrossFitter Kyle Maynard” and “CrossFitter Mary Hieb”). Everything we do can be scaled or modified to your current ability. The Power Keg approach to tiered progression can be critical to help you rehabilitate an injury or return from illness. We have a wealth of knowledge available to you.

How Long Are Your Workouts?
From start to finish, a CrossFit class is approximately one hour. Each session includes a warm-up, skill or strength, conditioning, and cool down stretching.
A Fast Fit class is approximately thirty minutes during the weekdays and 45 minutes long on the weekend. It includes a warm-up and then you move right into conditioning.
The specialty classes can vary in length, but most classes are scheduled for an hour in length
What’s your drop-in policy?
We love nothing more than having visitors from other boxes come “throw down” with us!
If you are just passing through, we charge a drop in fee of $ 20 per day ($30 with a t-shirt) and then only $5 per day for a week. If you will be joining us for longer than a week, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Please plan on arriving at least 10 minutes before scheduled class time so we can meet you and then introduce you to our facility.
You may find that we do things a little differently than your home. We hope that you enjoy the change in scenery, clientele, maybe even music. If anything makes you uncomfortable, however, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
